Kotwali:A 40-year-old private school teacher tragically lost his life on Thursday morning after his neck was severely cut by a banned Chinese kite string while riding his motorcycle, police said.

The incident occurred around 8 a.m. on Shastri Bridge, shortly after the victim, identified as Sanjeev Tiwari of Umarpur Haribandhanpur, had dropped his daughter at school, according to Superintendent of Police (City) Ayush Srivastava.

Tiwari was crossing the bridge when a sharp kite string, reportedly hanging across the road, wrapped around his neck. The string caused a deep laceration, causing him to lose control of his motorcycle and collapse on the spot. Locals immediately rushed to assist and called an ambulance.

He was taken to the district hospital, where doctors declared him dead despite emergency treatment. Police reached the scene, secured the body, and sent it for postmortem examination.

The incident has sparked outrage among residents, who are now demanding strict enforcement and a complete ban on the sale of Chinese ‘manjha’, the powdered glass-coated kite strings responsible for multiple accidents in the district.

Authorities have urged caution and promised to increase vigilance against the use of dangerous kite strings in public spaces.

This tragic event highlights the dangers of banned kite strings and the urgent need for stricter enforcement to prevent similar accidents in the future.
