Giridh: At least four people lost their lives and seven others sustained injuries in two separate traffic accidents reported from Jharkhand’s Giridih district, police officials said on Sunday.
The more serious of the two incidents occurred late Saturday night near Ghasidih village within the jurisdiction of Deori police station. A car travelling along the stretch reportedly rammed into an oncoming truck, leading to a fatal head-on collision. Two occupants of the car died instantly due to the impact, while a third victim later succumbed to injuries while receiving treatment at a hospital. Another person who was travelling in the car survived and is currently under medical care.
Police said the bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examinations as part of routine legal procedures. An investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the crash.
In a separate accident earlier in the day, a motorcycle collided with an e-rickshaw in the Jhalakdih area of the district. One person was killed in the collision, while six others were injured. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
Authorities said both cases are being investigated, and further details will emerge once inquiries are completed. Police have once again appealed to motorists to adhere to traffic rules and exercise caution, particularly during night hours and on busy rural roads.
