New Delhi: The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has taken into custody Javad Ahmad Siddiqui, the chairman of Al Falah University, in connection with alleged forgery and regulatory violations, officials said.
According to police sources, the arrest follows the registration of two separate FIRs based on a complaint filed by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The cases pertain to suspected irregularities in the operations of the privately run university, which came under scrutiny after a blast incident near the Red Fort last year.
Investigators said the matter had earlier drawn the attention of the Enforcement Directorate, which initiated proceedings to examine potential financial and compliance-related lapses. Subsequent inquiries by the Crime Branch led to the filing of criminal cases alleging forgery and misrepresentation.
Siddiqui was produced before a local court after his arrest. The court granted the police four days of custodial remand to allow further questioning and collection of evidence, officials said.
Authorities have not yet disclosed specific details of the alleged forgery, stating that the investigation is at an early stage. More information is expected as the probe progresses.
