Kota (Rajasthan): A tragic road accident in Kota shocked the city on Saturday morning when a private school van overturned after its tyre burst and collided with a Bolero vehicle. The accident claimed the lives of two students and left over ten others seriously injured.
The impact of the collision was so severe that several children were trapped inside the van, while some were thrown nearly ten feet away. Locals rushed to the spot and immediately shifted the injured students to the sub-district hospital. Four critically injured children were later referred to Kota for advanced treatment.
According to Etawah DSP Shubham Joshi, the van belonged to the School of Joy and Happiness in Gumanpura and was en route on the Geta Road when one of its tyres burst, causing it to crash into a Bolero. Both vehicles overturned, creating chaos on the road.
At the hospital, doctors confirmed the deaths of two students—Parul, a Class 4 student, and Tanu Nagar, who studied in Class 10. Four other children remain in critical condition. Initial investigations revealed that the van was a private vehicle, not operating under proper school transport regulations. It had seating for seven children but was carrying twelve at the time of the accident.
Eyewitnesses described the crash as extremely violent, saying some children were thrown several feet from the van, while others were trapped inside and rescued with great difficulty. DSP Joshi stated that authorities will investigate the roles of the van owner and the school administration, promising strict action if negligence is proven.
