Guwahati: A Special Investigation Team probing the death of singer Zubeen Garg submitted a detailed chargesheet at the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Guwahati on Friday. Officials said the document, running over 3,500 pages, was brought to the court in four large trunks along with supporting evidence.
The nine-member SIT reached the court complex in a convoy of six vehicles, marking a significant step in the ongoing investigation. Garg died on September 19 in Singapore while swimming in the sea, prompting the Assam government to form a high-level probe team led by Special DGP M P Gupta.
Gupta previously confirmed that seven people have been arrested in connection with the case and that more than 300 witnesses have been examined so far. During the recent assembly session, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma asserted that Garg’s death was “plain and simple murder”, intensifying public scrutiny of the case.
