Bhadohi (Uttar Pradesh): A 28-year-old man was shot dead and two others were injured during a violent clash arising from a long-standing land dispute in Bhadohi district on Tuesday, police officials said.

According to Superintendent of Police Abhimanyu Manglik, the incident took place around 11 am in Jangla village under the jurisdiction of the Aurai police station. The deceased was identified as Ashish Yadav, who died on the spot after being hit by gunfire. Two others, Akhilesh and Rajnath, who were on Ashish Yadav’s side, sustained injuries in the incident.

Police said the dispute involved Ashish Yadav and Brijesh Yadav and had been pending before a court for some time. Tensions reportedly escalated on Tuesday, leading to an altercation during which Brijesh Yadav allegedly opened fire using his licensed revolver.

Following the firing, police teams rushed to the spot and detained three persons, including Brijesh Yadav. The licensed weapon used in the incident was also seized.

The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, while the body of the deceased was sent for post-mortem examination. Police said further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact sequence of events and determine the role of all those involved.
