Nandyal: Four people lost their lives and two others sustained injuries after a car rammed into a private bus on National Highway 40 in Andhra Pradesh’s Nandyal district late Thursday night, police said.

The accident occurred when the car, travelling at a high speed towards Nandyal, went out of control. The vehicle first struck the road divider, crossed into the opposite lane, and then crashed head-on into a private bus that was heading towards Arunachalam.

All four occupants of the car died on the spot due to the impact. Two others who were seriously injured were rushed to a hospital in Nandyal, where they are currently undergoing treatment, according to Allagadda Deputy Superintendent of Police K Pramod Kumar.

Preliminary findings indicate that overspeeding or possible driver fatigue may have led to the loss of control. Police have initiated further investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the crash.

Meanwhile, passengers travelling in the private bus were safely shifted to another vehicle. No injuries were reported among them, officials confirmed.
