Goa: The investigation into a high-profile sex scandal in Goa has taken a grim turn as the State Crime Branch confirmed on Sunday, March 29, 2026, that 20-year-old accused Soham Naik allegedly exploited multiple victims, including two sisters. Naik, the son of a prominent Curchorem Municipal Councillor, was arrested on March 22 following massive public protests outside the Curchorem police station in Kushavati district. The case, which involves allegations of rape and the circulation of obscene videos, was subsequently transferred to the Crime Branch for a specialized probe.
To date, four females, including two minors have formally deposed before the police. Among the complainants is the accused’s own girlfriend, who has also filed a statement against him. Investigative officials revealed that the two sisters mentioned in the latest police report include one minor victim, both of whom have accused Naik of sexual exploitation. As the scope of the scandal widens, senior officials privy to the investigation told PTI that they are actively attempting to reach out to other potential victims who may have been silenced by the influence of the accused’s family.
Soham Naik remains in the custody of the Crime Branch, and his mobile phone has been sent for a comprehensive forensic examination to retrieve deleted media and communication logs. The accused faces a string of serious charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the Goa Children’s Act, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the Information Technology Act. Meanwhile, the ruling BJP has issued a clarification stating that neither the accused nor his father has any official affiliation with the party, distancing the political leadership from the ongoing criminal proceedings.
