Bengaluru: Bengaluru police have booked a group of eleven female passengers for allegedly creating a disturbance and harassing fellow commuters inside a Namma Metro train. The incident, which took place on the night of March 15, 2026, occurred as the group was travelling from the Madavara station near the Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) toward the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda (Majestic) station. Officials stated on Friday that the women were returning from a concert when they began singing loudly and behaving boisterously inside the crowded coach.
According to a statement from the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the group boarded the train at approximately 10:57 pm. Their loud singing and rowdy behaviour quickly drew objections from other commuters, leading to heated arguments. The situation escalated at the Peenya Industrial Area station, where some members of the group alighted but continued to argue on the platform. Witnesses reported that the women briefly obstructed the train doors, preventing the rake from departing and causing a minor delay in metro operations.
BMRCL security personnel and home guards intervened at various points along the Green Line to bring the situation under control. With the assistance of city police Hoysala patrol teams, the individuals involved were identified and detained. The BMRCL reiterated its commitment to ensuring a safe and hassle-free travel experience, noting that the immediate de-boarding of the group was necessary to maintain order and prevent further inconvenience to late-night travellers.
Following a formal complaint lodged by a BMRCL Security Officer, a non-cognizable report (NCR) was filed against the eleven women. Under Indian law, an NCR is typically reserved for minor offences where police do not have the authority to arrest without a warrant. Senior police officials confirmed that the group was eventually released after tendering an unconditional apology for their actions and promising to adhere to metro conduct rules in the future.
