Guwahati: The Assam government has directed the expulsion of three Bangladeshi nationals from Karbi Anglong district after they were declared illegal immigrants by the Foreigners Tribunal (FT), officials said on Saturday.

The action has been taken under Section 2 of the Immigrants (Expulsion from Assam) Act, 1950, following three separate FT orders issued in December. The individuals have been instructed to leave India within 24 hours of receiving the expulsion notices.

According to officials, the expulsion orders were signed by the district commissioner earlier this week and formally served on Saturday. The three individuals have been identified as Md Fakruddin, a resident of the Bokajan police station area, and Md Rafiqul Ali and Md Faizul Haque, both from the Manja police station jurisdiction.

The official orders stated that the continued presence of the declared foreigners was “detrimental to the interest of the general public and the internal security of the state.” They were directed to exit the state and the country through designated routes, including Dhubri, Sribhumi, or South Salmara-Mankachar.

Authorities warned that failure to comply within the stipulated time frame would result in further action to forcibly remove them from Assam and the country.

The move is part of the state government’s ongoing efforts to act against illegal immigration in accordance with existing laws and tribunal verdicts.
