Amarnath Yatra: The registration process for the annual Amarnath Yatra will begin on April 15, 2026, the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board announced on Wednesday.
Registrations will be conducted through 554 designated bank branches across the country, and permits will be issued on a “first come, first served” basis. The official dates for the pilgrimage will be announced soon.
Authorities have laid down strict eligibility criteria. Children below 13 years of age and senior citizens above 70 years will not be allowed to register. Pregnant women beyond six weeks have also been barred from participating in the yatra due to safety concerns.
Each bank branch will have a fixed daily quota for registrations per route. Pilgrims will be able to choose between the Baltal and Pahalgam routes, with the selected route and date clearly mentioned on the permit.
The Board said that this year, permits will be issued digitally through the NIC portal after Aadhaar-based biometric e-KYC verification. In case of technical issues, bank branches will be allowed to complete registrations manually through photo and data entry.
Applicants must submit a mandatory health certificate issued by an authorised doctor or medical institution on or after April 8, 2026. The registration fee has been fixed at ₹150 per permit.
To assist pilgrims, help desks will be set up at all designated bank branches, and staff will be trained to guide applicants through the process. Authorities have also advised devotees to provide accurate Aadhaar and mobile details and to complete documentation on time.
Given the challenging terrain and weather conditions, pilgrims have been urged to take necessary health and safety precautions before undertaking the journey.
The Shrine Board added that detailed guidelines will be released once the official dates of the yatra are announced.
