Chandigarh (Haryana)— In a major success against organised crime, the Special Task Force (STF) of Haryana has arrested Lakhwinder Singh, alias Lakha, a close associate of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
According to officials, Singh, a resident of Titram village in Kaithal district, was deported from the United States and taken into custody by the STF’s Ambala unit after completion of all legal formalities.
An official release stated that Lakhwinder Singh had been operating from the U.S. since 2022 under the directions of Anmol Bishnoi, Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother. He was allegedly involved in nearly a dozen cases of extortion and firing incidents linked to gang operations across Haryana and Punjab.
Singh has an extensive criminal history, with multiple cases registered against him in Sonipat, Rohtak, Yamuna Nagar, Kaithal, and Ambala districts. Authorities had issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against him in 2023 and a Red Corner Notice (RCN) in 2024.
After nearly a year of coordinated efforts with national and international agencies, Haryana STF successfully secured his deportation. Singh has been produced before the Ambala court, where police custody is being sought for further interrogation.
Officials said more information about his activities after fleeing India will emerge as the investigation progresses. The Haryana STF reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling organised crime networks and continues efforts to locate and deport other wanted gangsters operating abroad.
