CHANDIGARH, April 11, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday finalised a detailed plan for year-long celebrations to commemorate the 650th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji.

The decision was taken during a meeting with the Sant Samaj at Punjab Bhawan, where the Chief Minister outlined a wide range of events and initiatives to mark the historic occasion across the state and beyond.

Year-Long Events and Major Celebrations Planned

CM Bhagwant Mann announced that the celebrations will include seminars, workshops, kirtan samagams, religious yatras, plantation drives and cultural programmes.

A major highlight of the initiative will be the development of 650 acres of ‘Guru Ravidass Bagichis’ across Punjab through plantation drives, with around 6.5 lakh saplings to be planted per district on average.

The government also plans to organise school-level competitions, documentary screenings, drone shows, blood donation camps, marathons, shobha yatras and cycle rallies.

The main function will be held at Khuralgarh, which will include the release of a commemorative pendant and several spiritual and cultural activities.

Focus on Guru Ravidass Ji’s Message of Equality

Speaking on the occasion, CM Bhagwant Mann said that he feels fortunate to commemorate both the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and the 650th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji during his tenure.

He said that Guru Ravidass Ji gave a message of equality and envisioned a society free from discrimination. The state government will ensure that the celebrations are organised in a grand and meaningful way to spread Guru Ji’s teachings across the globe.

The Chief Minister added that the teachings of Guru Ravidass Ji continue to guide society towards equality, dignity and welfare of all sections.

Main Event to Showcase Culture and Spiritual Legacy

The main event at Khuralgarh will include an exhibition on the life of Guru Ravidass Ji, katha and kirtan darbars, a Sant Samelan and a conference on Guru Ji’s bani.

Special attractions will include a 3D projection at Minar-e-Begumpura and a large-scale drone show.

CM Mann also sought guidance and blessings from the Sant Samaj to organise the celebrations in the best possible manner, stating that it is a matter of pride for the state to host such a historic event.

He reaffirmed that the government is committed to building a society based on Guru Ravidass Ji’s teachings, where every individual lives with dignity and self-respect.

Several dignitaries, including Cabinet Ministers Harpal Singh Cheema, Tarunpreet Singh Sond, Lal Chand Kataruchak and Dr. Ravjot Singh, along with MP Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal and other officials, were present on the occasion.
