Chandigarh: Taking a major step to strengthen citizen services, the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, announced the opening of 54 new service centers, increasing the total to 598 across the state. The announcement was made by Minister of Governance Reforms and IT, Aman Arora, during a review meeting on citizen service delivery. These centers aim to provide faster, efficient services to residents in both urban and rural areas.

Currently, Punjab has 544 service centers offering 465 government-to-citizen (G2C) and 7 business-to-citizen (B2C) services. The review highlighted the state’s exemplary performance, including a decline in “send back” cases and high completion rates for online field verification through e-seva, m-seva, and WhatsApp, with 96.3% of approximately 4 lakh applications processed. The government has also emphasized rewarding districts and officers achieving zero pendency.

The new centers are expected to be completed by January 15, 2026, as per government instructions. This initiative complements other digital programs like ‘Government at Your Doorstep’ and the Citizen Service Delivery Portal (connect.punjab.gov.in), reflecting the Mann government’s commitment to accessibility, transparency, and faster service delivery for all citizens of Punjab.
