Chandigarh: Haryana Health Minister Arti Singh Rao said the state government is intensifying efforts to prevent and control non-communicable diseases (NCDs), including cardiovascular conditions. She informed that the national programme for NCD prevention is being implemented across all 22 districts, with dedicated clinics set up not only at the district level but also in 170 sub-divisional civil hospitals and community health centres, and 292 primary health centres to ensure accessible healthcare services.
She added that screening for diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and cancers (oral, breast, and cervical) is being conducted for people aged 30 years and above at all health institutions. As per data from the National NCD Portal till January 31, 2026, over 1.01 crore people have been screened, with treatment initiated for more than 8.6 lakh hypertension patients, highlighting the government’s proactive approach toward early detection and management.
The Minister further said that essential medicines for hypertension and heart diseases are being made available across districts, while super-speciality services like cath labs and cardiac centres have been set up under the PPP model in district hospitals of Ambala, Faridabad, Gurugram, and Panchkula. Emphasising prevention, she noted that awareness campaigns are being actively conducted to encourage healthier lifestyles, reaffirming the government’s commitment to making Haryana free from non-communicable diseases.
