CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday urged people not to be misled by alleged misinformation being spread about the state government’s flagship healthcare programme, the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna. In a video message, the Chief Minister said the scheme was launched to ensure direct access to quality medical treatment for every resident of Punjab, especially those from weaker sections. He said the initiative provides cashless medical treatment of up to ₹10 lakh per family, significantly reducing the financial burden on people while ensuring access to quality healthcare services.
Describing the scheme as a landmark step, Mann said Punjab has become the first state in the country to offer such extensive healthcare coverage. He added that all citizens, including government employees and pensioners, are eligible for health cards, which can be obtained through facilitation centres, Common Service Centres, or online registration using Aadhaar or voter cards. The Chief Minister also noted that the scheme has received an overwhelming response, with a large number of people coming forward to avail its benefits.
Warning against rumours, Mann alleged that anti-Punjab forces were deliberately spreading false information to discourage people from availing the scheme. He clarified that treatment under the scheme is completely free, with hospitals being paid directly by the government, and said strict action would be taken against any hospital found charging beneficiaries. He urged people to remain vigilant against misinformation and take maximum advantage of the healthcare initiative.
