Mumbai: Ranveer Singh’s latest release Dhurandhar continues to register a powerful run at the box office, showing little sign of fatigue even as it moves deeper into its theatrical run. The espionage thriller, which hit cinemas on December 5, has delivered another strong weekend, underlining its wide audience appeal.
Entering its second week on a confident note, the film posted robust numbers on Friday and saw a sharp upswing over the weekend. Trade estimates indicate that the Aditya Dhar-directed film earned ₹53 crore on its ninth day, a significant jump driven by strong Saturday footfalls. With this, the film’s domestic net collection has climbed to approximately ₹292.75 crore.
Industry observers note that Dhurandhar has bucked the typical second-week slowdown. On day eight, the film collected ₹32.5 crore — a notable increase over its previous day — before gaining further traction on Saturday with a surge of over 60 per cent. If the current pace holds, the film is expected to cross the ₹300 crore mark in India within days.
The film features an ensemble cast led by Ranveer Singh, with Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan and Sanjay Dutt playing key roles. Its sustained performance is being credited to positive word-of-mouth, repeat audiences and strong weekend turnout.
Dhurandhar had already laid a solid foundation in its opening week. It began with ₹28 crore on its first day, followed by ₹32 crore on Saturday and ₹43 crore on Sunday. Although collections dipped slightly during the weekdays, the film remained steady, adding between ₹23 crore and ₹27 crore each day, closing its first week with ₹207.25 crore.
With its current total inching closer to the lifetime India net earnings of Padmaavat (₹302.15 crore), Dhurandhar is poised to become the highest-grossing film of Ranveer Singh’s career. Trade analysts believe the milestone could be achieved as early as day ten, cementing the film’s status as one of the year’s biggest box office successes.
