New Delhi: In a surprising and exciting crossover, Microsoft co-founder and renowned philanthropist Bill Gates is set to appear virtually on the popular Indian soap opera “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2.” This collaboration follows the recent reunion of “Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii” actors Sakshi Tanwar and Kiran Karmarkar on the show.
According to reports, Gates will feature in a special three-episode arc focused on maternal and newborn health — an area strongly supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The storyline will include a video interaction between Gates and Smriti Irani, the actor-turned-politician who has reprised her iconic role in the rebooted series.
The episode aims to leverage the soap’s large audience to raise awareness about vital health initiatives. Smriti Irani, who met Gates at the World Economic Forum 2025 as part of discussions on gender equity under the “Alliance for Global Good,” spearheaded the effort to integrate this socially impactful message into the show.
Produced by Ekta Kapoor, the series has been applauded for addressing important societal topics such as body positivity, aging, and women’s empowerment alongside traditional drama. Gates’ involvement is a rare example of international philanthropy intersecting with mainstream Indian television.
The episodes featuring Gates are expected to draw significant viewer interest and help spread awareness about crucial health concerns in an engaging format. “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2” airs on Star Plus and is available for streaming on JioHotstar.
