New Delhi: The Outer District Police have cracked a sensational triple murder case in which three Delhi residents were allegedly poisoned as part of a premeditated conspiracy for financial gain. A self-styled tantrik, identified as Kamruddin alias “Baba,” has been arrested in connection with the crime.

According to police, the accused operated so-called tantric centres in Loni and Firozabad and allegedly targeted individuals by promising “dhanvarsha” (a shower of wealth) through rituals. Investigators said he gradually gained the victims’ trust and exerted psychological influence over them before executing the plan.

The case came to light on February 8 after a PCR call was received at Paschim Vihar East police station reporting three people lying unconscious inside a white car. Police reached the spot and found an elderly man in the driver’s seat, a middle-aged man who had been pulled out of the vehicle by passersby, and a woman lying inside. All three were taken to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital, where they were declared brought dead.

During the initial probe, police recovered liquor bottles, cold drink bottles, empty glasses, mobile phones, cash, helmets, jackets, Aadhaar cards, and other personal belongings from the vehicle.

Technical analysis and sustained investigation revealed that the victims had been in regular contact with Kamruddin. Call data and location tracking indicated that they had visited Loni, Ghaziabad, a day before the incident and again on the day of their deaths. Evidence further suggested that an additional person had been present in the car during their return journey.

Police identified this person as Kamruddin, who allegedly boarded the vehicle in Loni and later abandoned it at the crime scene. Initially attempting to mislead investigators, the accused eventually confessed during interrogation, police said.

As per his disclosure, one of the victims, Laxmi, had been introduced to him through an acquaintance named Salim around two months earlier. She later brought Shiv Naresh and Randhir into contact with him. The accused allegedly convinced the trio to perform a special ritual for financial prosperity and asked them to bring ₹2 lakh in cash, along with liquor and soft drinks.

Police allege that Kamruddin mixed poison into laddoos and persuaded the victims to consume them along with alcohol and beverages during the journey. After they lost consciousness, he allegedly fled with the cash and valuables.

Investigators stated that technical and circumstantial evidence corroborates the accused’s presence in the vehicle at the relevant time. Officials also described him as a habitual offender with prior involvement in serious criminal cases in Dholpur, Rajasthan, and Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, involving a similar modus operandi.

Further investigation in the case is underway.
