Delhi: A deadly fire tore through a residential building in Palam on Wednesday morning, leaving at least six people dead and triggering a large-scale emergency response.
Authorities said the fire broke out around 7 am in a housing unit located within the congested neighbourhood. Soon after receiving the alert, fire officials dispatched around 30 fire engines to the scene in an effort to contain the flames and rescue those feared trapped inside.
Teams from the Delhi Fire Services, along with police personnel, quickly reached the site and launched rescue operations amid challenging conditions posed by narrow lanes and dense construction in the area.
Initial reports from the Delhi Police confirmed that six लोगों lost their lives in the incident. Officials indicated that more individuals could have been inside the building when the fire started, raising concerns during the ongoing search.
Firefighters continued battling the blaze for several hours while conducting systematic checks of the premises. Emergency responders worked to evacuate nearby residents as a precaution and prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent structures.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and investigators are expected to examine the site once the situation is fully under control. Further updates are awaited as authorities continue their efforts at the scene.
