Chandigarh: The second and concluding day of the air show in Chandigarh is set to captivate spectators with high-energy aerial displays, as the Indian Air Force’s Suryakiran Aerobatic Team prepares to perform over the iconic Sukhna Lake on Friday.

The lake, which has remained closed to visitors since March 26 due to security arrangements for the event, will reopen to the public at 2 PM following the conclusion of the show.

Today’s highlight will be the Suryakiran team’s aerobatic performance featuring nine BAE Hawk Mk-132 jets. Known for their precision flying, the aircraft—painted in striking red and white—will execute complex formations, including patterns symbolising the Indian tricolour, promising a visually stunning spectacle for the audience.

Authorities have made arrangements to accommodate around 10,000 spectators at the venue. To ease travel, special bus services operated by the city’s transport system have been deployed from multiple locations, ensuring smooth movement for attendees.

The event will be attended by Gulab Chand Kataria, who serves as the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, as the chief guest. Several senior officials from neighbouring states are also expected to be present.

The air show, which began a day earlier, has already attracted significant public interest, with large crowds gathering to witness the display of aerial skill and coordination. With today marking the finale, organisers expect an even bigger turnout as aviation enthusiasts and residents gather for one last glimpse of the thrilling performances.
