Kasibugga (Andhra Pradesh): A tragic stampede at the Venkateswara Swamy temple in Kasibugga town of Srikakulam district left several devotees injured on Saturday morning. The incident took place during Ekadashi celebrations, when a massive crowd thronged the temple premises, leading to chaos and overcrowding.

According to officials, the stampede occurred as the number of devotees exceeded the temple’s capacity, triggering panic and a sudden rush near the main sanctum. Those injured were immediately rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Police and local authorities quickly reached the site to restore order and manage the large gathering.

State Agriculture Minister K. Atchannaidu expressed deep grief over the incident and personally visited the temple to assess the situation. He met temple officials and local authorities to gather details about the mishap and instructed that the injured receive the best possible medical care.

“The incident is deeply unfortunate. I have directed officials to ensure all necessary support for the affected families,” the Minister said.

Additional police personnel have been deployed to manage the situation, and an inquiry into the cause of the stampede has been initiated. The atmosphere in Kasibugga remains tense as the community mourns the tragedy.
