Patiala: A tragic accident on Sirhind Road in Patiala on Friday morning claimed the life of a bus conductor and left 12 others injured after a PUNBUS bus collided head-on with a truck.

The bus conductor, identified as Anmol Singh (45), succumbed to injuries at the scene, while six of the injured were rushed to Rajindra Hospital and the remaining six to Manipal Hospital. Several victims sustained serious head injuries, with one reported to be in critical condition.

Police and rescue teams promptly arrived at the site to manage the situation and provide medical assistance. The collision caused significant traffic disruption, which was later cleared after the vehicles were removed.

Gurnam Ghumman, SHO of Anaj Mandi police station, confirmed that Anmol Singh’s body has been kept at the mortuary of Rajindra Hospital and that an investigation into the accident is underway.

Preliminary reports indicate that the mishap may have been caused by high speed and an overtaking attempt, though authorities are examining the matter further.
