Ferozepur: The Border Security Force (BSF) recovered a damaged Chinese-made drone near the International Border in the Mamdot sector of Ferozepur district on October 29. The DJI Mavic 3 Classic-01 drone, grey in color, was found within the jurisdiction of the 155 Battalion, BSF, under the command of Assistant Commandant Pramod Kumar Naik of ‘E’ Company.
The seized drone (E/Ops/Seizure Memo/155/25/521) weighed around 470 grams without its missing components, including the camera assembly and battery. The detached battery weighed 40 grams, while the dropping mechanism weighed 330 grams. The drone’s left leg was broken, and the front right fan was disassembled, indicating a possible crash landing.
Acting on intelligence inputs under Sections 10, 11, and 12 of the Aircraft Act, the BSF conducted a joint operation with local authorities and registered a case. The drone’s serial number is 1581AF4R2C6.
Officials suspect the drone was being used for cross-border smuggling or surveillance. The investigation, led by ASI Gehna Ram, is underway to determine its origin and intended use. The recovery comes amid increasing drone-related incidents along the Punjab border, prompting the BSF to intensify vigilance and patrols.
