Jaipur: In a shocking incident, a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from Sikar district, Rajasthan, was allegedly forced to consume poison by two unidentified men who also vandalized his car on Wednesday afternoon. The victim, identified as Lalit Panwar, the BJP mandal president of Laxmangarh, was attacked while returning home after visiting his daughter’s school.

According to police, Panwar had gone to deliver a tiffin box to his daughter when he received a call from an unknown person asking him to inspect a plot on Hameerpura Road. “When he reached the spot, he didn’t find anyone. A few minutes later, two men on a two-wheeler arrived and suddenly attacked him,” said Laxmangarh Station House Officer (SHO) Mahendra Singh.

The attackers also damaged Panwar’s car during the assault. “When Panwar stepped out to confront them, one of the assailants took out a bottle containing a white liquid and forcefully tried to make him drink it. He consumed a small amount before collapsing. Locals rushed to his aid as the assailants fled the scene,” Singh added.

Panwar was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors confirmed he had ingested Aldrin, a chemical known to act as a slow poison if consumed in large quantities. “His condition is now stable, and we have recorded his statement,” the SHO said.

Police have registered an attempt-to-murder case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched a search to identify and arrest the two attackers.
