Patna: The Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) on Tuesday released its election manifesto for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, naming it ‘Bihar Ka Tejashwi Pran’. The manifesto promises a government job for one member of every family within 20 months of coming to power. Tejashwi Yadav, who leads the alliance, announced that a new law for this employment scheme will be enacted within 20 days of forming the government.
Alongside this flagship promise, the manifesto outlines plans to build five new expressways and includes commitments to support youth, women, contractual workers, pensioners, farmers, and economically weaker families.
During the press conference, Tejashwi Yadav was accompanied by Congress Rajya Sabha MP Akhilesh Singh and national spokesperson Pawan Khera. However, state in-charge Krishna Allavaru and Bihar Pradesh Congress president Rajesh Ram were notably absent from the stage.
Tejashwi emphasized that the alliance’s vision goes beyond forming a government. “We are not here just to make a government, but to rebuild Bihar,” he said. He further stated that the manifesto represents a collective commitment by all partners of the Mahagathbandhan to the people of Bihar.
Key highlights of the manifesto include the distribution of free tablets to poor students from Classes 8 to 12 and the introduction of strict laws to curb paper leaks. Additionally, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) will be set up to ensure Sahara India investors get their money back.
Taking a dig at Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Tejashwi remarked, “I have sympathy for Nitish Kumar. The BJP and corrupt officials have turned him into a puppet. His face is being used, and Amit Shah has already confirmed that Nitish Kumar won’t be made Chief Minister again.” He added that while the Mahagathbandhan has a clear chief ministerial face, the NDA remains undecided.
