Chandauli(Uttar Pradesh)— The body of a six-year-old girl, missing since Monday evening, was found on Tuesday morning from a heap of straw near her home in a village under the Alinagar police station area. Police suspect the child was sexually assaulted and then murdered.
According to officials, the minor was returning home with her grandmother after visiting her uncle’s house. When the grandmother stopped to talk to an acquaintance, the child walked ahead and suddenly went missing. Despite overnight searches by family and villagers, she could not be located.
On Tuesday morning, her body was discovered hidden under a pile of straw barely 20 meters from her house. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Anant Chandrashekhar and other officials reached the spot immediately after receiving information.
“Bloodstains were found on the victim’s clothes near the site along with empty packets of snacks and biscuits,” an officer said. Police confirmed visible injury marks on her body, suggesting she was raped and later strangled to death.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Police have detained three to four suspects from the same village for questioning.
“All possible angles are being thoroughly investigated to ensure a fair and transparent probe,” ASP Chandrashekhar stated.
