Ferozepur: In a major intelligence-driven operation, the Counter Intelligence wing of Ferozepur Police has dismantled a cross-border drug trafficking network, arresting one operative and seizing 5 kilograms of heroin.

The arrested individual has been identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gora. According to initial investigations, the drug consignment was smuggled from Pakistan with the help of handlers operating across the international border.

An FIR has been registered at the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) in Fazilka, and a deeper probe is underway to identify the backward and forward linkages of the smuggling network.

Police sources said that the operation was part of a sustained crackdown on trans-border narco networks active in Punjab’s border districts. Authorities are investigating potential connections to previous drug seizures and communication channels used by Pakistan-based traffickers.

The Punjab Police reiterated its firm commitment to dismantling drug cartels and safeguarding the state’s youth from the scourge of narcotics.
