Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday to formally invite her to the 350th martyrdom anniversary celebrations of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The Punjab government has also extended invitations to the Chief Ministers of all states, seeking wide national participation in the historic event.

The announcement comes in view of a series of commemorative activities organised by the state to honour the life and sacrifices of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. On Saturday, CM Mann, accompanied by Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, attended a Kirtan Darbar hosted by the Punjab government.

From November 1 to 18, the Punjab government will organise light-and-sound shows across all districts, highlighting the teachings, philosophy, and life of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Additionally, Kirtan darbars will be held in towns and cities visited by the Guru during his lifetime.

The celebrations will extend beyond Punjab, with a Kirtan Darbar in Srinagar (Jammu & Kashmir) on November 18, followed by a Nagar Kirtan on November 19, which will see participation from hundreds of Kashmiri Pandits. On November 20, three Nagar Kirtans will commence from Takht Sri Damdama Sahib (Talwandi Sabo), Faridkot, and Gurdaspur, converging at Sri Anandpur Sahib on November 22. The concluding events, scheduled from November 23 to 25, will feature large-scale religious and cultural programmes at Sri Anandpur Sahib.

Chief Minister Mann emphasised that the celebrations are designed to promote unity, faith, and remembrance of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s teachings, inviting people from all walks of life to take part in the events.

This commemoration marks a significant moment in Punjab’s cultural and religious calendar, with the government aiming for maximum national engagement in honour of the 350th martyrdom anniversary.
