Navi Mumbai: Four people, including a six-year-old girl, were killed and ten others injured after a massive fire broke out in a multi-storey residential building in Vashi early Tuesday morning, officials said.

The incident occurred around 12:30 am in a flat on the 10th floor of Raheja Residency, MGM Complex, located in Sector 14, and quickly spread to the 11th and 12th floors of the building, police said.

According to fire officials, the deceased include two women, one man, and a young girl, while ten other residents sustained burn injuries and smoke inhalation. The injured were immediately shifted to two hospitals in Vashi for treatment.

Upon receiving the distress call, eight fire tenders and forty fire brigade personnel rushed to the scene. Firefighters battled the blaze for over three hours before finally bringing it under control by 4 am.

Authorities said the cause of the fire is yet to be determined, though forensic and fire safety teams have begun their investigation.

Residents were evacuated from the affected floors as a precaution, and police have cordoned off the area to ensure safety.
