New Delhi: On the festive occasion of Diwali, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation through a heartfelt letter, reflecting on recent national milestones and urging citizens to deepen their commitment to the nation’s growth and unity. In his message, he highlighted the success of Operation Sindoor, the government’s crackdown on Naxal extremism, and emphasized India’s rising stature on the global stage.

Calling the operation a “living example of justice in action,” PM Narendra Modi said India not only defended its values but also delivered justice where it was due. “Lord Ram inspires us to uphold dignity and confront injustice,” he wrote. “Operation Sindoor was a modern reflection of those principles—India stood for Dharma and responded to wrongdoing with firm resolve.”

This year’s Diwali, the Prime Minister noted, was especially meaningful for millions, as celebrations extended into regions once affected by Maoist violence. “For the first time, lamps are glowing in many areas that were once caught in the shadow of extremism,” he said. “Thousands have chosen peace over violence, joining the path of development by placing their faith in the Constitution. This is a monumental step forward.”

The letter, released just a day after PM Modi celebrated Diwali with navy officers aboard the Indian-built warship INS Vikrant, was as much a message of national pride as it was a call to action. He outlined several reforms and initiatives aimed at driving India toward rapid development, including recent cuts in GST rates, which he termed a major achievement of his administration.

“The launch of reduced GST rates on the first day of Navratri marked the beginning of the ‘GST Savings Festival,’” he said. “This initiative is helping ordinary citizens save thousands of crores, making celebrations more affordable.”

On the global front, PM Modi observed that while many nations face turmoil, India continues to emerge as a pillar of both stability and sensitivity. He reaffirmed that the nation is on course to becoming the world’s third-largest economy in the near future.

PM Modi’s Diwali message also focused on everyday citizen responsibilities. He called on people to embrace indigenous products, respect India’s linguistic diversity, maintain cleanliness, and live healthier lives. “Let us all say with pride, ‘This is Swadeshi,’” he wrote, urging everyone to reduce oil consumption, take up yoga, and adopt preventive health measures.

In a poetic closing, he said, “Diwali teaches us that lighting one lamp does not lessen its brightness—it multiplies it. In the same way, let us illuminate our society with compassion, cooperation, and positivity.”

As the country celebrates its second Diwali following the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the Prime Minister’s message struck a chord with tradition, patriotism, and progress—reminding citizens that each festival is an opportunity to come closer as one nation, one people.
