New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday extended her greetings to citizens on the eve of Diwali and called upon everyone to celebrate the festival in a safe, responsible, and environment-friendly manner.

In her message, President Murmu said Diwali represents the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil. She added that the festival, celebrated across the nation with great enthusiasm, spreads the message of love, unity, and brotherhood.

“On this day, devotees worship Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth and prosperity. The festival of joy is also an occasion for self-reflection and self-improvement,” she said.

The President emphasized that Diwali should also serve as a reminder to help the underprivileged and bring happiness into their lives. “I urge everyone to celebrate Diwali safely, responsibly, and in an environment-friendly manner. May this Diwali bring happiness, peace, and prosperity to all,” Murmu said, extending her best wishes to Indians in the country and abroad.
