Jagraon: In the wake of Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda’s untimely death, Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahni has announced that efforts are underway to secure a government job for Jawanda’s widow as a measure of support to the bereaved family.

\ Sahni stated that he will be taking up the matter directly with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. “I will personally discuss the issue with the Chief Minister today to ensure that Rajvir’s family is looked after,” Sahni said.

The announcement came as thousands gathered to bid farewell to the late singer, who passed away on October 8 following a tragic road accident. He had been receiving treatment at a hospital in Mohali, but succumbed to his injuries days later. His funeral was held amid massive public turnout and tight arrangements in his hometown.

As crowds poured into Pona village, large tents and facilities were set up to manage the flow of mourners, with both political leaders and Punjabi entertainment figures expected to attend. The emotional atmosphere reflected the depth of sorrow over the loss of a singer who had become a household name in Punjabi music.

Jawanda, known for hits that celebrated Punjabi identity and rural life, was not only a celebrated performer but also seen as a symbol of pride for the region. His sudden passing has left the state in mourning.
