Patiala: A private school in Patiala has suspended a Physical Education teacher following allegations that he sexually abused an eight-year-old student multiple times.
The alleged incidents reportedly took place at Auro Mirra School in SST Nagar, a posh locality of the city. The victim underwent a medical examination, which confirmed repeated sexual abuse. Police have also collected the accused’s DNA sample for further forensic analysis.
“The medical examination of the victim has revealed multiple instances of sexual abuse, and a probe is underway,” said SP (City) Palwinder Cheema.
Authorities are seeking assistance from government counsellors and the district child protection office to determine whether other students may have been affected. Police have urged parents and students to come forward if they have relevant information.
Lahori Gate SHO Shivraj Singh stated that police teams visited the school to collect evidence and question school officials. “The school has been asked to submit staff records. The investigation aims to identify if any other student faced harassment by the accused,” he added.
School principal Chinmayie confirmed the teacher’s suspension and said, “We are fully cooperating with the police and supporting the victim’s family.”
