Amritsar: In a major crackdown on illegal assets, Amritsar police, in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation, demolished the house of drug trafficker Rohit, also known as Kalu, in the Pyara Singh Haveli area under Mohkam Pura police station on Tuesday. The operation was conducted under tight security, with the area cordoned off to prevent any untoward incident.

Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar stated that the property was built using money earned from drug trafficking. Rohit, 22, who has studied up to the 12th grade, is currently in jail facing four cases under the NDPS Act. The authorities confirmed that the entire property was acquired through illegal means, warranting its demolition.

The commissioner also announced that investigations into properties of other drug traffickers in the city are ongoing, and strict action will continue against assets acquired illegally.

Amritsar Police Achievements under NDPS Act in 2025

Police Commissioner Bhullar highlighted that the Amritsar Police have achieved significant milestones under the NDPS Act this year. So far, 1,138 cases have been registered, and 2,133 individuals arrested. Seizures include 250.521 kg of heroin, 29.652 kg of opium, 325.577 kg of intoxicant powders, along with cash worth ₹2.88 crore linked to hawala/drug operations and 96 vehicles used in trafficking.

The demolition reflects the police’s ongoing commitment to curbing drug trafficking and confiscating illegal assets in the city.
