Chandigarh: The Punjab Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, on Monday approved several key measures aimed at enhancing infrastructure, agriculture, environmental protection, and law enforcement across the state.

Among the major decisions, the Cabinet approved a Group Housing Scheme to promote affordable housing, ensuring better living facilities for citizens. To safeguard water quality and environmental health, the government sanctioned the cleaning of Punjab’s rivers at 85 identified locations, while also confirming that no rivers will be de-listed from environmental protection status.

In the agricultural sector, the Cabinet decided to remove sand from farmers’ fields, aimed at improving soil fertility and crop productivity. Law enforcement measures received a boost with strict anti-drug actions in prisons, including the deployment of sniffer dogs for enhanced monitoring and detection.

Additionally, a one-time extension for the Moga Project was granted to ensure its timely completion, reflecting the government’s focus on infrastructure development.

The Cabinet’s decisions underscore a holistic approach toward sustainable development, law enforcement, and citizen welfare in Punjab under Chief Minister Mann’s leadership.
