Barnala: In a major law enforcement breakthrough, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, in coordination with Barnala Police, arrested two operatives of the Davinder Bambiha Gang and recovered six pistols, officials said on Sunday. The action comes as part of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s ongoing drive to enhance law and order in the state.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sandeep Singh from Hanumangarh, Rajasthan, and Sekher from Kaithal, Haryana. The seized weapons include one PX5 pistol, one .30 bore pistol, four .32 bore pistols, and 19 live cartridges. Police also impounded a Maruti Swift car (registration PB01AX0945) used by the accused to transport the firearms.

DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that preliminary investigations indicate the suspects were acting under instructions from foreign-based handlers of the Bambiha Gang, intending to supply weapons to gang foot soldiers for executing high-profile crimes in Punjab. Authorities are working to trace the entire supply chain to dismantle the network completely.

ADGP AGTF Punjab Promod Ban shared that specific human and technical intelligence led to the swift joint operation. The suspects were apprehended near the Barnala-Bathinda main road at Dhaula village under the supervision of AIG AGTF Sandeep Goel, with teams led by Inspector Vikram (AGTF) and Inspector Baljit Singh (CIA Barnala).

Both arrested individuals have a prior criminal record, including cases registered under the Arms Act. SSP Barnala Mohammad Sarfaraz Alam confirmed that FIR No. 107 dated 11.10.2025 has been registered under Section 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 25 of the Arms Act at Police Station Rureke Kalan. Investigations are ongoing, with authorities anticipating further arrests and recoveries in the coming days.
