New Delhi: Delhi Police have cracked an online job fraud racket allegedly linked to Chinese nationals and arrested three individuals for facilitating the criminal financial operations, officials said on Wednesday.

The arrested, Sabbir Ahmed, Mohammad Sarfaraz, and Mohammad Dilshad, were accused of arranging bank accounts to receive illicit funds and converting the money into cryptocurrency before transferring it to Chinese handlers via decentralized exchange wallets. The arrests followed a complaint from a Tilak Nagar-based nurse, who claimed she lost ₹15.94 lakh to a fraudulent online part-time job scheme.

According to police, the victim was lured into investing in task-based jobs through a social media group, drawn in by promises of high returns. Investigators traced the money trail to bank accounts connected to the accused, leading to raids in Uttam Nagar and Batla House. During these operations, authorities recovered ₹5 lakh in cash, five mobile phones, 10 bank passbooks, and 14 cheque books linked to the scam.

During interrogation, Dilshad, a Gorakhpur-based undergraduate, disclosed that he had been in contact with a Chinese national via social media for about a year. He allegedly arranged mule bank accounts to receive defrauded funds in exchange for a 5% commission. Sarfaraz, an MBA graduate, was reportedly managing the syndicate, while Sabbir Ahmed, a painter, assisted in cash withdrawals for a 1% commission.

Police stated that at least 26 complaints related to the same beneficiary accounts have been reported on the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal, totaling approximately ₹2.60 crore in transactions. Investigators are now working to identify the broader network associated with the Chinese handlers.
