Ballia: A private hospital in Sikandarpur town of Uttar Pradesh has been sealed by health authorities following the death of a woman during childbirth earlier this month. The action was taken after officials found the hospital was operating in violation of medical norms.
According to Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sanjeev Verman, the facility — identified as New Deeplok Hospital — was inspected on Sunday, and several serious lapses were uncovered. The hospital reportedly lacked proper infrastructure, did not meet required safety standards, and failed to follow essential medical protocols.
The woman, whose identity has not been officially disclosed, had been admitted to the hospital for delivery. She died during the procedure, prompting the family to raise concerns over negligence. The case led to a review by the district health department.
“Based on the findings, the hospital was sealed with immediate effect,” said Dr. Verman. Authorities have not ruled out further action against those responsible.
The incident has stirred outrage locally, with residents demanding stricter oversight of private healthcare facilities in the region. An inquiry is underway to determine whether the hospital’s staff was qualified to perform the procedures and whether any negligence contributed directly to the woman’s death.
