Peshawar: Four students were injured after a “toy bomb” exploded inside a classroom at a private school in Jamrud Tehsil, Khyber District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, officials said on Saturday.
According to the school administration, the incident occurred on Friday when a fourth-grade student, on his way to school, picked up the device near the Afghanistan border and brought it into his classroom. The so-called toy bomb was actually an old mortar shell, which is often found abandoned in border areas and sometimes mistaken by children as a harmless toy. The device exploded after hitting the classroom floor.
The injured students were immediately taken to a hospital in Peshawar and were discharged after receiving treatment. Security forces have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to locate and safely defuse any other unexploded ordnance, aiming to prevent further casualties.
