New Delhi: Delhi Police successfully rescued a seven-year-old boy in West Delhi who had been abducted by his mother’s former live-in partner, officials said on Friday. The main accused, Ajay Verma from Hansi, Haryana, along with three accomplices, has been taken into custody.

The case came to light after the boy’s mother filed a complaint at Vikas Puri police station on September 28, reporting that her son had not returned from school the previous day. She suspected Verma, citing his history of violent and possessive behaviour during their past relationship. Investigations later revealed that Verma had kidnapped the child, who is from the complainant’s earlier marriage, to coerce the mother into resuming their relationship.

Police traced the abduction through CCTV footage showing two men taking the boy away on a motorcycle. Despite repeated attempts by Verma to evade authorities by switching off his phone, technical surveillance and social media tracking led officers to Hansi. There, the child was found safe at a farmhouse with Verma and two associates. A parallel operation in Delhi led to the arrest of another accomplice and recovery of a country-made pistol.

The investigation revealed that Verma conspired with friends Amit and Sachin from Hisar, who sheltered him, while another associate from Vikas Puri aided in the abduction. Mobile phones used during the crime were also recovered.

Police have registered two cases: one under the kidnapping sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and another under the Arms Act.
