According to Police Circle Officer Rupali Rao, the incident took place on the Panipat-Khatima highway under the jurisdiction of Titavi police station. The car, carrying seven passengers, lost control and crashed into the parked truck.

The victims were identified as Mohini (44), Anju (30), Vimmi (35), Rajendra (50), Shiva (30)—who was driving the car—and Piyush (30). All hailed from Faridpur in Haryana.
