New Delhi: Former Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) president Ronak Khatri received an extortion threat on Monday from an individual impersonating gangster Rohit Godara. A purported screenshot of the message circulated widely on social media, in which the sender demanded ₹5 crore from Khatri.

The message reportedly read: “Ronak, Rohit Godara speaking. You’ve had enough of politics; give me ₹5 crore or face the consequences.”

Authorities have confirmed that an investigation has been launched to verify the authenticity of the number and trace its source.

Khatri, affiliated with the Congress-backed National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), won the DUSU presidential election in 2024. The incident has sparked concern over safety threats faced by student leaders in Delhi University.
