West Bengal: A heartbreaking train accident unfolded near Shyamnagar railway station on Saturday night, where three individuals—including a woman and her child—lost their lives after being struck by a moving train. The incident has sparked anger among local residents, who allege negligence on the part of railway authorities.
Train Accident Details
According to police sources, the tragedy occurred when a woman was attempting to cross the railway tracks with her child. Eyewitnesses say the child slipped from her grasp and fell onto the tracks just as the Gour Express was rapidly approaching the station.
In a desperate attempt to save them, a local fruit vendor standing nearby rushed to their aid. Unfortunately, before he could pull them to safety, the train hit all three individuals. None of them survived the impact.
The deceased have been identified, but their names are being withheld until families are notified.
Local police have begun reviewing CCTV footage from the station to reconstruct the sequence of events. Initial findings suggest that the train was operating under normal speed limits and had no opportunity to stop in time.
The bodies were sent for post-mortem examination, and authorities are coordinating with the victims’ families for further proceedings.
