Amreli (Gujarat): A single-seater trainer aircraft belonging to a private aviation academy veered off the runway during landing at Amreli airport on Sunday afternoon. Fortunately, the trainee pilot walked away unhurt, officials confirmed.

Amreli Collector Vikalp Bhardwaj said the mishap occurred soon after the aircraft touched down. “The plane skidded off the runway and moved into the unpaved area adjacent to it. The trainee pilot escaped without injuries, though the aircraft sustained damage. Civil aviation authorities will investigate the cause,” he said.

A video recorded by a local resident shows the small trainer aircraft resting on uneven ground in a tilted position, a short distance from the runway.

This is not the first aviation incident at Amreli airport. In April, a trainee pilot was killed when a trainer aircraft from the same airport crashed in a residential locality shortly after takeoff.
