Anantapur: A tragic incident occurred in Korrapadu village of Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh where a 16-month-old girl lost her life after accidentally falling into a vessel of boiled milk in the kitchen of a Gurukul school.
Police said the accident took place on September 20, when the child, while chasing a cat, slipped and fell into the vessel. She sustained severe burn injuries and was immediately rushed to the Government General Hospital (GGH), Anantapur. Later, she was shifted to a private hospital in Kurnool for advanced treatment.
Despite medical efforts over three days, the child succumbed to her injuries on September 23. Anantapur Rural Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) T. Venkatesulu confirmed the details, calling it a deeply unfortunate incident.
The victim’s mother, Challa Krishnaveni, works as a security guard at the school. At the time of the mishap, she had gone into the kitchen to make coffee. On hearing her daughter’s cries, she rushed to rescue her, tried to reduce the burns by pouring water, and took her for medical treatment.
Police have registered a case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
