New Delhi: Delhi’s Patiala House Court on Saturday extended the judicial custody of Gaganpreet Kaur for 14 more days, till October 11, in connection with the Dhaula Kuan BMW accident case. She will next be produced before the court on October 11.

Judicial Magistrate First Class Ankit Garg passed the order after Kaur was presented before the court on the expiry of her earlier custody. The court is expected to pronounce its order on her bail plea later in the day at 3:30 PM.

Kaur was first remanded to two days’ judicial custody on September 15, which was later extended by 10 days on September 17. With today’s order, her custody has been prolonged once again.

During the hearing, the complainant’s counsel, Advocate Atul Kumar, told the media that CCTV footage presented in court showed the BMW being driven at high speed before colliding with the motorcycle. He argued that contrary to the accused’s claim that the bike struck the car, the evidence clearly indicated the car rammed into the motorcycle.

Kumar further alleged that although an eyewitness offered to help, Kaur refused assistance from an ambulance and instead took the injured to her own nursing home, allegedly to shield herself from legal consequences.

The accident, which occurred earlier this month, claimed the life of Navjot Singh, a Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Finance. Delhi Police have charged Gaganpreet Kaur under sections including culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
