Gurugram: In a tragic early morning accident on Saturday, five people lost their lives and one sustained serious injuries after a Mahindra Thar SUV slammed into a divider near Exit 9 on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway.

According to officials from Sector 40 Police Station, the vehicle was traveling at high speed when the driver lost control, causing it to crash into the median around 4 AM. The impact was so severe that all five passengers—three women and two men—died on the spot. A sixth occupant, the sole survivor, was rushed to a private hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Victims Came from Uttar Pradesh

Initial findings suggest that all six occupants of the Thar had travelled to Gurugram from Uttar Pradesh. The cause of the crash appears to be reckless driving, though further investigation is underway to determine whether any other factors, such as intoxication or mechanical failure, contributed to the incident.

“The SUV bears a Uttar Pradesh registration number, and the identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed. The matter is under detailed investigation,” said Inspector Lalit Kumar, Station House Officer of Sector 40.
