Greater Noida: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed optimism about the country’s economic trajectory, stating that as India’s economy continues to grow stronger, the tax burden on citizens will reduce further. He also emphasized that the reform of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) system is an evolving process aimed at simplifying compliance and boosting growth.

The Prime Minister made these remarks while inaugurating the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS) at Greater Noida, where he addressed a large audience of entrepreneurs, exporters, and policy-makers.

PM Narendra Modi underlined the significant role that recent changes in the GST framework are expected to play in the country’s broader economic transformation. “The GST reforms introduced earlier and the recent measures taken this September are giving fresh momentum to India’s growth story,” he said, noting that these changes are not only streamlining trade but also creating more room for personal and business savings.

He referred to the implementation of GST in 2017 as a “milestone in India’s economic journey” and pointed out that ongoing improvements are part of a broader effort to make the tax system more transparent, efficient, and citizen-friendly.

“With each reform, we are moving closer to a system where doing business becomes easier, and honest taxpayers feel encouraged. As we progress, people will experience even more relief from the tax burden,” Modi added.

The Prime Minister also praised Uttar Pradesh’s rising prominence in the global trade landscape, calling the trade show a reflection of the state’s industrial and entrepreneurial potential.

The event, which brings together domestic and international businesses, is seen as a platform to showcase Uttar Pradesh’s growing role in India’s economic framework and its contribution to exports, manufacturing, and innovation.

Modi’s comments come amid signs of steady economic growth and government efforts to strengthen domestic industries while keeping inflation and tax pressures in check.
