Chandigarh, Sept 24: The southwest monsoon is on its way out from Punjab, with weather officials predicting its complete withdrawal from the state within the next 24 hours. According to the Chandigarh Meteorological Department, conditions are now favorable for the retreat of monsoon not only from Punjab but also from neighboring states like Himachal Pradesh and Haryana.

As the monsoon recedes, dry weather is expected to persist across Punjab at least until September 29. No rainfall alerts have been issued for this period, and the skies are likely to remain clear throughout the state.

Temperature Shifts Observed

In the past 24 hours, Punjab has witnessed a marginal rise of 0.2°C in the average day temperature. The current average maximum temperature is now 1.9°C above the normal seasonal range. The hottest temperature recorded in the state was 37°C, signaling warmer-than-usual daytime conditions for late September.

However, while days are warming up slightly, nighttime temperatures have begun to show a downward trend — a typical sign of the seasonal shift toward autumn.
